Russian oil and gas firm Rosneft, through its subsidiary Rosneft Vietnam, has commenced drilling of a new production well off the southern coast of Vietnam.

Drilling of the new well, known as LD-3P (Lan Do field), is part of Block 06.1 development.

The well will be drilled to a total depth of about 1,200m along the well bore.

According to the company, the Lan Do gas field is estimated to have initial natural gas reserves of 23 billion cubic metres.

In an effort to develop additional reserves of the field, Rosneft is planning to build underwater infrastructure objects and connect them to operating offshore objects of Block 06.1.

A two-phase 370km-long Nam Con Son pipeline will deliver processed gas and natural gas liquid from the Lan Tay platform to the shore.

“According to the company, the Lan Do gas field is estimated to have initial natural gas reserves of 23 billion cubic metres.”

The two-phase technology will enable the simultaneous delivery of gas and gas condensate to the onshore processing facility.

Additionally, Rosneft is planning to undertake sidetracking of the PLD-1P exploration well on Phong Lan Dai field (Wild Orchid).

The well is set to be reclassified as a production well.

Discovered in 2016, Wild Orchid is also located within Block 06.1 and has commercial gas reserves of 3.4 billion cubic metres.

The company has selected Japan Drilling (JDC) to conduct drilling on Lan Do and Phong Lan Dai.

Rosneft Vietnam operates both projects with a 35% share.

The oil company has set the target depth of the well at about 1200 meters, with sea depth at the drilling site being around 160 meters.

According to Rosneft, the Lan Do field has initial natural gas reserves of 23 billion cubic meters. To develop the field further, Rosneft plans to build subsea installations which will be connected to the Lan Tay platform in the block.

Processed gas and natural gas liquid are delivered from the platform to the shore by the two-phase Nam Con Son pipeline that is 370 km long – the longest two-phase pipeline in South East Asia. Due to the two-phase technology gas and gas condensate are delivered to the onshore processing facility simultaneously.

During the 2018 campaign in Vietnam, Rosneft is also looking to drill a sidetrack well, next to the previously drilled PLD-1P exploration well on Phong Lan Dai field (Wild Orchid) –  also located within Block 06.1. Target depth of the well is 1300 meters. As a result, the well will be reclassified as a production well.

Japanese rig

Rosneft discovered the Wild Orchid field in 2016, a project which saw Rosneft engaged as an operator of an international offshore drilling project for the first time. According to Rosneft, the field revealed commercial gas reserves of 3,4 billion cubic meters.

” Offshore infrastructure objects are being constructed on Lan Tay platform in order to deliver gas and natural gas liquids from the Wild Orchid field, Rosneft said on Tuesday,” Rosneft said.

Drilling on Lan Do and Phong Lan Dai will be carried out using the semi-submersible drilling rig Hakuryu-5, owned by the Japanese company Japan Drilling Co., Ltd (JDC).

Rosneft is currently involved in gas and condensate production projects on two offshore Vietnam blocks and is also a participant of The Nam Con Son Pipeline project.

Rosneft Vietnam B.V. owns 35% share in the Block 06.1, which contains three gas condensate fields – Lan Tai, Lan Do, and PLD (Wild Orchid). The fields are 370 km offshore in Nam Con Son basin. Sea depth in the areas reaches 190 meters. Initial gas reserves of the fields are about 69 billion cubic meters, according to data available on Rosneft’s website.

Mặc dù được mệnh danh là loài hoa có vẻ đẹp tao nhã nhưng một số loài hoa cũng có hình dáng kỳ lạ như mặt khỉ hay có mùi hôi thối để thu hút côn trùng.

Họ Lan có hơn 20.000 loài hoa (gấp 4 lần so với số lượng loài động vật có vú) và hơn 800 chi hoa trên thế giới. Trong đó, khoảng 2.000 chi thuộc loài Bulbophyllum được tìm thấy ở các rừng mưa nhiệt đới.

Hoa lan có thể sinh sống và phát triển ở nhiều điều kiện khí hậu, từ rừng nhiệt đới ẩm đến vùng cực lạnh giá, từ trên cao hay thậm chí cả dưới đất. Tuy nhiên, để có thể phát triển mạnh, mỗi loài hoa cần các điều kiện môi trường khác nhau. Điều kiện phát triển tốt nhất của hoa lan Dendrobium alexandrae (ảnh) là ở trên trên các cây phủ rêu trong rừng sương mù.

Hoa lan có thể nở trong vài giờ, nhưng cũng có thể nở đến 6 tháng không tàn. Tuy nhiên, một số cây phải mất đến vài năm mới nở hoa.

Theo các nhà nghiên cứu, hoa lan có nhiều mùi đặc trưng và khác biệt, từ khó ngửi, cay nồng đến mùi ngọt như vani. Mùi thịt thối của một số loài hoa có thể thu hút ruồi, trong khi đó các loài có mùi hương dễ chịu sẽ thu hút ong đến thụ phấn.

Hoa phong lan có thể phát triển ở trên hoặc xung quanh đá. Nhiều loài có cách sinh tồn đơn giản như mọc lên từ mặt đất giống như cỏ. Tuy nhiên, hầu hết các loài hoa lan là thực vật biểu sinh, sống neo đậu nhưng không ký sinh vào các cây chắc chắn hơn và chủ yếu mọc trên cao.

Kết cấu đài hoa, cánh hoa độc đáo như một chiếc bẫy nhỏ là đặc trưng của hoa phong lan Pahiopedilum spicerianum. Không giống những loài cây ăn thịt khác, chiếc bẫy này sẽ không tiêu hóa côn trùng, mà chỉ dụ côn trùng rơi vào bẫy để nhận phấn hoa.

Các cánh hoa bên trong và đài hoa bên ngoài với cấu trúc đặc biệt sẽ tạo nên nhiều hình dáng độc đáo khác nhau cho các loài hoa phong lan. Phong lan Dracula, hay hoa lan mặt khỉ, còn gọi bằng cái tên khác là phong lan “rồng nhỏ” (trong tiếng Hy Lạp) bởi có phần đài hoa hình như gai nhọn và nhỏ dài.

Đặc trưng về hình dáng cánh hoa và đài hoa là đặc điểm giúp hoa phong lan thu hút các loài động vật nhỏ giúp chúng thụ phấn. Theo các nhà nghiên cứu, những đường vân dài màu tím của hoa phong lan Cochleanthes amazonica là đặc điểm giúp chúng thu hút côn trùng.
